Since last weekend, this past week has had me in a state of blog redress... the result is I'm paying more attention to what ye readers are saying because criticism is there for a reason (of course if you're banging on about how fat I am, alas I have no answer to that other than to eat more fish and chips...). Someone reminded me that I hadn't posted about Basso & Brooke (though I have actually in the past on several occasions...) and so some beautiful SS09 deets went up. Someone else chirped that my wardrobe is runneth over with designer garb and I countered with a poor man's outfit that cost about a tenner.
It's quite tragic that I'm on this little defensive trip. Call it a strange guilt of sorts. Blogger's penance?!?
Anyhow, on the same tact, someone else has called me up on my lack of eco-friendly fashion or rather lack of coverage. Now I'm not arsed to dig up the number of posts where I HAVE discussed this matter in some shape or form but I can safely say that it is numerous. My main gripe is that eco/sustainable/organic fashion is really not at the level where it's accessible to everyone and nor on an aesthetic level is it emotive enough for me to muse about it properly without sounding like I'm preaching "You should buy this PURELY because it's eco/sustainable/organic and not because it looks great."
The sentiments above have already been expanded upon elsewhere on the blog (again, regular readers will know the dealio...). I digress. I'll stop. I'm beginning to annoy myself really. Yesterday, the last of the sample sale activity for 2008 happened at the Macbeth pub in Hoxton (the venue of the Dazed XMas party so there was a distinct whiff of vomit in the air...) where I picked up some last minute Crimbo gifts and also patted myself on the BUM with this skirt by recycled fabric label Good One.
Their website is a comprehensive one so I'll keep the blather to a minimum. The concept isn't a new one so you know the score - hand-picked, locally-sourced, recycled fabrics get turned into clothing. It ain't expensive, it's not rocket science and it's just good old fashioned fun stuff. I say a pat on the BUM because it's quite literally a BUM HEART skirt.... ah... the way you used to draw bums as a child in a perfect heart shape...
You can go for accentuating your boobs if you like as they have a number of bra outline dresses on sale on their e-shop.
Yet another take on Anya (I wonder if she's regretting doing that bag...?)'s 'I'm not a plastic bag...' The peeps at Good One do have a point...
Another reader has also noted my recent melancholy palette of subdued colours. Is it a style change? Is it a sign of the gloomy times? Nope... the colours are still there... just that of late, I've accumulated a lot of interested textures in grey/black.... put together my H&M lace top, my Inside Out mohair-trompe d'oeil printed silk top, Good One Bum Heart skirt and H&M grey floral tights and hopefully I'm not portraying a picture of dreary times...
You guys sure do make the brain work overtime... but I luvs ya for it...
