My normal eBay search routine always includes 'vintage Norma Kamali' though these days it's yielding less of the good stuff and more of her Wal-Mart collaborations... kind of like when you put Giles Deacon in the search engine and all you get is New Look (I can only hope that a SS/09 Pac-Man helmet will pop up one day...). Anyway, I always then go to the Norma Kamali site just because there's always so much to look for and there's still so many strings to the Kamali bow. I've been informed they now offer a service which I'm semi-intrigued by which is that you order stuff from the website without paying for anything and then you have 48 hours to try things on at home and roadtest them as it were before paying for what you finally select. An infomercial staple - the 'try before you buy' strategy is not an original one but obviously not one applied to fashion that often given that there might be so many loopholes... what if said person skips the country with $000's worth of clothing. What if you get it dirty etc - would you have to pay for it? The fact that a lot of it is bodywear also poses some questions. I can't work out the details right now...especially because it's Christmas Eve (Done all the pressie shopping? I'm smugly saying I have and am now sitting in my parents home vegging out like the secret chubster that I am...)... I can say though that Norma K always offers a range of things that just need a bit of styling up to look odd in a nice way or nice in a odd way.... currently, all the usual trend suspects are there...lace, fringe and feathered satin dresses in addition to the expected jersey and sleeping bag coats.
I might even be tempted to do the try before you buy if only for messing around with things for the blog only to return it all back....oops.... wow, I let that masterplan out like a fat cat out of a hessian sack... silly me...
I love a good smiley catalogue pose...
