Gradiated Fringe and a Happy 2009 to Everybody

Ok, now I am properly eating my words (with mustard and gusto...) because I did go and buy something else in the sales... something quite unexpected.... a Vanessa Bruno top with an attached scarf and gradiated pink fringe.  Unexpected because though I had seen the top online before, it struck me as odd that it was Vanessa Bruno because of the addition of the gradiated fringe, a feature that doesn't strike you as being very Bruno-esque, and also in the sale it was grossly reduced...from like £300 down to....£61?!?  Eh?  (ok, so I had a Liberty 10% off members card and a VAT discount....but still...).  I'm not a mahussive Bruno fan seeing as I can never bear to part with my cash for items that whilst are great quality are a little on the simple side for me.  So an odd piece like this had to come home with me... and transformed into a half an hour play of draping and flinging around and finally into a flash animation...

Apologies for the music... mute it if you wish, but I'm breaking my 'No Autoplay music' rule to ring in 2009 with one of my favourite tracks of late... "Gifted" by N.A.S.A. feat. Kanye West, Lykke Li and Santogold (unlikely combo?)...promise I'll switch it off later...probably tomorrow when a lot of us will most likely have a bit of a headache...

I'm off to wrestle with a wedding gown for tonight's outfit....results posted tomorrow when I'm hungover and ill... hope everybody has a fantastic New Year's Eve night whatever you choose to do...

Get Into The Corner

As hard as I tried to push the boyf (I should just calling him Style Salvage Steve seeing as he is a fully fledged blogger...I like boyf better tho...) into buying something obscenely expensive, wrecking havoc on his bank account as he did on mine yesterday... nothing, nada, natch... the age old problem of incorrect sizing, an issue more accute in menswear than womenswear.

Still, I wasn't about to give up and instead I shoved him onto TheCorner.Com, the menswear portal powered by Yoox.com and ended up surfing every single 'corner' of the site and on the way, oohed and aahed over things I'm personally partial too and would seriously consider buying, sizes permitting.  Things like the Raf by Raf Simons grey sweatshirt which I have groped in person is a no-brainer... it's truly wonderful grey fleecing.  Mens bags by the likes of Pauric Sweeney likewise are preferable to the female counterparts just because there's less 'sheeny-shiny bling bling' about them, thus making them more my kind of bag.  Marc Jacobs' amusing white scribble shirt could be a funny take on the 'woman-in-a-mens-white-shirt'.  I find myself taking fancy to the more decorative items that the boyf wouldn't touch with a bargepole, such as the Ann Demeulemeester floral trousers (still keen on a floral suit...).  Mens shoes by Marsell and Opening Ceremony make me wish I had bigger feet or that they replicated their styles in womens' sizes.  Finally, Raf Simons has had me touching up his swirly patterened boiled wool blazer for MONTHS now... everytime we're around a rail of Raf, there I am looking at it and wondering if the sizes come up small enough to wear as a fitted blazer and running my hands over a pattern in the most wonderful texturised boiled wool that makes most eyes blink-twice...

I have firmly instructed the boyf to take my wallet away from me...

After much confusion and wrangling with GoDaddy.com...I have sorted out a domain.  Alas, it's not a .com, as some cheeky sod has gone and bought it and is demanding £2,000,000 for me to buy it back.  Eff off...as if I have that kind of money.  So, I've got a .co.uk instead... oh well, just in case people didn't know this was a British style blog.  So, the new address is http://www.stylebubble.co.uk

You can use it without the www. if you so wish and of course the old address will still work too.

Guess it makes for easier rembering at a soiree when someone blinks and blinks again, asking 'What exactly is a fashion blog?' and I then I get flustered and red-faced and have to awkwardly explain myself.  At least I can sound a tad more official with a .co.uk...
