Mickey migh get the cute bow tie but Minnie gets the polka dot dress and though it is Mickey's 80th birthday this year, he isn't hogging the limelight as his girfriend Minnie is going to be given a wardrobe of 80 different outfits by various designers and artists. The fashion trade exhibition PRÊT À PORTER PARIS will be exhibiting the Minnie Mouse dolls dressed in all her 80 outfits (how wrong is it that I'm jealous of a fictional cartoon character...?) from 24th to the 27th January and then the exhibition will move to The Train in New York (another tradeshow), returning to Galeries Lafayette in Paris for public view from the 16th April to the 17th May, and then making more journeys to Milan, Tokyo and Berlin (sadly not London...). The dolls will then be auctioned off with proceeds going to Maison de Solenn, helping troubled adolescents.
The list of designers not shown below include...J C de Castelbajac, Vionnet, Cathy Pill, Burfitt, Leonard, Lutz, Lie Sang Bong, Tara Jarmon, Veronique Leroy and many other French designers....
I think Minnie's new wardrobe just about sums up the diversity that is going on in my own closet. I'd quite like to be balled up in peach chiffon one day and traipising about in a chic Heimstone getup the other. Damn... and I thought Minnie was just a polka dot dress one trick pony.....
