If we're all clicking about on blogs, we've all been clicking about on streetstyle websites. I was wondering when the 'official' mad props to this strictly 21st century development of streetstyle gawking via websites would come and Colette (always on the ball, that store...) has collated the best of them together along with other 'documentors of the streets' in an exhibition called 'From the Street to the Night', starting from 1st October to the 3rd November.
Whereas before we secretly stole glances at those stylish beings on the streets, now, it's like an open feast of streetstyle on the internet and there starts the dialogue on international trends and perhaps a movement of trends because of these sites. Powerful stuff eh...
Yvan Rodic, the sweetest and snappiest dressed guy about is a bit of an international jetsetter these days but Facehunter will for me be representative of a guy hunting for the coolest outfits about in Paris.
Ack, the Sart aka Scott Schuman is so big that to call him a blogger would somehow be diminishing what he does. He snaps the people who seem to get it spot on, ALL the time.
Alright, so Alistair Allan touches all his pictures up but that does serve a purpose in adding sparkle to all the moments he captures in London's party scene showcased on his site Dirty Dirty Dancing.
It's that famous white brick wall where many a person has posed in all manners of outfits and expressions. NY's finest... MisShapes
The site that supposedly spawned Cory Kennedy. I'm not a big fan of Cobrasnake photos but hey it's more party fun fun in a mostly LA-setting.
These are the ones I wasn't so familiar with but am defintiely intrigued by.
Amy Arbus' portfolio of capturing the moment of rituals is quite an anthropological observation.
Google didnt' yield much on Marco Dos Santos. I gather he's a French DJ slash photographer who takes pretty pics of musicians.
Hans Eijkelboom is a Dutch artist whose current exhibition is a comparitive study on Paris-New York-Shanghai. I love the scientific efficiency of capturing the same details (Louis Vuitton bags and stripey polo shirts) in all three cities.
The most famous 'roider of them all, Jeremy Kost has a whole catalogue of celebrity pics, all snapped by his faithful Polaroid, capturing a warmth and 'reality' that he feels digi-cams can't match.
Bob Colacello is more famous as a writer, editor of the Warhol-founded Interview magazine and also heavily involved with Andy Warhol's famous 'Factory'. In the book 'Out', Colacello documents 70's indulgement and decadence and captures those wild times not just by his words but by pictures.
