I am apologising in advance If you get sick of the word 'surreal' by the end of April but I can't ignore the fact that London will be awash with that 'S' word and to be honest, without even trying, London can be pretty surreal. If we throw around the 's' word a lot in fashion these days, it is because that concepts of wearability are constantly being pushed and boundaries are stretched and certainly of late, many contempory designers' play with proportions, contrasts and function leaves us with nothing to say but the 's' word. The Victoria and Albert Museum will be opening their eagerly anticipated 'Surreal Things' exhibition at the end of March, which will showcase the influence of surrealism in interiors, fashion, advertising, film and architecture. In honour of all the exhibition, Selfridges have put together a Surreal and the Shop season and have really gone to town with their windows, designed by people who like to invoke Surrealism in their work.
