Time to tie things up and wrap it up as I've already started the London shows today (more about that later...). Loose ends being some outfit posts which I feel I should complete just because I got in the hang of it and because Phil/Tommy have been kindly taking my pics all week long. Sorry I can't smile properly guys.
Day 6 - This is me shrieking over Phil's amazing wallpaper which CAME WITH his rented apartment. All I got was a horrid brown pleather couch...
Day 7 - This is me when I'm not properly fed... looking worse for wear...
Can't quite get over the awesome print of these PVC trousers that I borrowed from Fanny and the Cave... PVC floral print trousers from Miss Selfridge of all places!
-My heart has been sinking lower and lower over the lost opportunities of shopping...especially when I spied an indoor garage sale in Chelsea that looked like this before having to scurry away to a show... in the words of Arnie, "I'll be back..."
-I used to attempt to make something out of felt material just because it's so cheap. What I should have done was ask Julian Louie instead to work some magic on the fabric as he used the material in abundance in his collection and with the addition of Swarovski elements to juxtapose with the mattness of the felt (I used to find their sponsorship of SO many designers a little frightening but then it turns out by and large I end up loving most of the Swarovski-sponsored collections anyway...).
-An obvious statement but Francisco Costa seemed to be able to make the colour black have so much depth with a plethora of fabric experimentations...
-I tweeted this already (I'm sorry my Twitter has collapsed... texting from my US mobile is apparently pricy?) but I was indeed shamelessly giddy and excited when I found out Leanne Marshall, season 5 Project Runway winner reads my blog. A lot of WTF questions have been running through my head this week. Her presentation was intimate but I was mainly gawking at the fact that most of the Project Runway contestants turned up. I think I may have pointed and gasped over the presence of Jerell. To the collection though - distinctly Leanimal is what I wrote in Leanne's guestbook except this purple dress with the mille feuille of cascading post-it notes makes me think her direction might be going even more sculptural... more petals, ruching, pleats and draping please...
-Everyone online blahing on about the launch of the first issue of Love magazine did not aid the fact that I couldn't buy it in New York yet. I do now have a copy and will digest it soon enough.
-A friend of mine, Brandon is now settled in New York and so we met up for me to ooh and aah over his outfit of a superb vintage cape, a cardi worn upside down and the best bit; a pair of Issey Miyake Pleats Please navy trousers that he has slipped one leg over his head as a cowl and the other leg over the arm as an assymetric sleeve. Sadly I don't have many trousers loose enough to do this but if I ever do get a pair of Henrik Vibskov print elasticated waist silk trews (very nearly nearly bought them when I was in Copenhagen), I shall be attempting this for sure...
-Rad Hourani stole my heart and I'm just waiting for a good plethora of backstage images to best show the radness of Rad in greater detail here... (I wonder if he gets tired of hearing that name being used in that way...)
