When KOS and Style Salvage posted about Far Fetch today, I had to beam because I had heard about this concept over a year ago and had been itching for it to come online and be unleashed on the world and to get the bloggers' approval of an e-commerce initiative like this can only mean good things for the guys at Far Fetch. Over Paris Fashion Week, there was a brunch and a party celebrating the launch of Maria Luisa on FarFetch.Com but the entire concept of Far Fetch doesn't stop and start with the boutique in Paris.
It brings together 20 boutiques in Europe with emphasis on the word 'boutique' onto one unified site. Far Fetch has given the means to smaller shops that might not necessarily have the means or ability to go into e-commerce or if they have, the function isn't as advanced. So we have London boutiques like No-One, bStore (both yet to be added to Far Fetch for now...) and Beyond the Valley that have dabbled in e-commerce but with Far Fetch they can take it to the Net-a-Porter level that creates an ease of environment for choosy online shoppers. In addition, when you go to the individual sites of the boutiques, the same e-commerce mechanics are now in place there too...
Still, the idea of visiting the one stop drop that is Far Fetch is a good one because whilst all the boutiques involved have very different identities, the synergy lies in the fact that they are all independent and that the brands they stock sit nicely with each other and it makes sense to be shopping from ALLthese boutiques in one place especially as you can shop however way you want...by garment, sex, boutique and Far Fetch's own categorisation of Lab, Luxe and Cult.
So first we have the stuff to dream about... which is the general feeling you get when shopping in Maria Luisa in Paris.
I still haven't quite figured out how to beg Feathers to give me a hefty discount on that Toga grey patent biker jacket and now their stock of Peter Pilotto and Basso & Brooke is making me salivate even more.
Yay - some stuff I can afford! I can finally answer the question of where to buy the Melissa brogues - Beyond the Valley!
I don't go to Labour of Love enough because of its Angel location so this will prove to be even more useful.
There are other boutiques in Far Fetch's roster and I'm loving Paristexas which is based in Copenhagen.
The really exciting thing is Far Fetch's plans to add more boutiques from the US, Far East, Middle East to the store which means that the roster of labels will be even more diverse... exciting times, exciting times...
