So Predictable

I've been listening to this song all day long which has pretty much dictated my posting mood today (yes, I'm a tragic blogger who has POSTING moods...).  Similarly, when I saw Anna Aichinger's new S/S 09 collection "Sonic Summer of Youth" and was bopping along to The D!rt Lab, I was thinking "Yeah.... bandeau, graphic cut-outs, tight satin and sheer panels all the way!"  If I look back on this in hindsight, I am thinking that the bandeau, the check, the tightness of it all is a little cliched.... these three things tick the prerequisites of coolness that will guarantee to make any reasonably slim person look like they have fallen out of Jalouse magazine.

Still, on the Austrian designer's statement before the S/S 09 lookbook, it's pretty  obvious that perhaps she's aware of those cool cliches too and that she is using that language to play around with in her collection.  It's interesting how tied up plaid up shirts around the waist, Leger-esque elastic and that youthful desire to be the coolest of the bunch is being commented on here in her Anna's clothes.  Take it to the next level and she could be doing a Viktor & Rolf-esque piss take of the whole "cool hipster" (I HATE that h word and promise never to use it again because it is ever so odious...) look.  As it stands, she has still ended up with a collection full of interesting pieces that yes, would appeal to the Jalouse girls but also to the half way houses such as myself.

Cute song. Maybe I'm one of the Jalouse wannabes but I friggin love this collection..looks really wearable but done a little differently.

The second to last look reminds me of your bra experiments from a good long time ago!

Your Jalouse recipe is dead on! And yes, Ive happened to have fit the profile in some outfit posts, uh oh, am I cliche? Crap!

I totally feel you on blogger moods and the over done "cool hipster" phrase which I too swear to not use again!

I really like the first and last looks, though I don't think I'd wear either of them in public. If I was older I might wear the last one to lounge around the house, but at least Id be fabulously lounging. Maybe running some errands too.

Actually, I'd definitely wear the last one in public. And they do remind me of your bra experiments.

Really lovin The Dirt Lab, thanks for the link.

I like the skirts. The horizontal-ness doesn't make them seem double-wide, which is difficult to avoid.

I'd love to be a bilionare to get these! (and pay the rent and get the obligatory pink Manolo's.

the sheer panel on the back of the white long sleeved top is absolutely cheeky!

i'm gonna have to try to get more dirt lab into my ipod!

I am ALL OVER this, despite the hip hip connotations. Maybe because of the fresshhhh dirt lab beats, or maybe because a glimpse of bandeau under a lace/sheer top is basically my life...
