The Best of the LFW Deets

So no, I didn't venture out to as many shows as I had anticipated but at least my beloved other child is looking very healthy and I haven't felt like a total lemon slash waste of space.  The upside though is that I've spent my days going through images and REALLY looking at things as opposed to speeding through shows on catwalking.com or even speeding through the shows in real life.  Yes, it's a bit of a silly comparison.  Of course pics are never as good as the real thing but I don't think I would have gotten the same perspective without the fantastic photographers who have been feeding me images day in, day out and allowing me to indulge, fantasise and even make realistic S/S 09 plans...

Quite possibly the most fantastic hoisery of S/S 09 at Eley Kishimoto S/S 09.  Or the fact that they match the dresses/skirts and match AND clas with the shoes in such a perfect way helps the cause.  I suppose I'll have to buy into the ensemble as a whole but I do declare that the undulating gradiated scallop tights are quite genius.

Nathan Jenden threw up a few surprises as he let loose a lot and went into a frivolous direction that I sort of liked.  Style.com was doesn't love you Nathan but I still dug the bow-tipped sunglasses that were probably a collaboration with Linda Farrow (they do EVERYBODY's glasses it seems...)...

...and the cocktail umbrellas and origami squares decorating the dresses.  Fun, silly, a little bit cheap and gauche is what is being thrown at me for S/S 09 and I'm down for that...

If the first pair of bow glasses don't come to me then these very odd Ann Sofie Back ones complete with piercings might be worth a try.  I'm unable to have piercings because of my skin allergies but at least I could wear them in SOME shape or form with these glasses.

Did I ever tell the story of me pacing inside and out of Liberty department store wondering whether I should buy a SS08 Louise Gray dress (the only stockist of her stuff...), embellished with springy plastic cord, her trademark fabric sewn on swatches and in colours that only Gray could put together... it was on sale and at £300 wasn't TOO high a price for all those deets going on but in the end I could not justify it.  Her embellishments for AW08 have grown up a bit, sticking to chainmail and metal but I love them still...especially on the blue dress resembling metal cycling shorts...

I can't stop looking at this image that Kasia took of Mark Fast's dress...everything about it is alluring.  So I'm never going to look like th emodel but I can wish and lust for Fast's WONDERFUL knits.... the technique and exquisite craftsmanship is extraordinary and SEX-AY in a way that I never thought I would want to portray with any outfit of mine...

Best shoe collaboration goes to Basso & Brooke and Brazilian designer Raouda Assaf  with these beautifully ornate platforms with spindly heels that look like they just want to burst into bloom, perfectly matched to their wondrous prints that they produced for their S/S 09 collection.

i like also this Mark Fast dress.

You found all the wildest trends here. I loved all those shoes for the B&B show, and I really enjoyed the chain mail, the wispy, webby knits, and the wonderful tights. My favorites, though, were the plastic "umbrellas," and the folded origami bits. Nice roundup, Susie!

Just when i thought it wasn't possible for heels to get an higher, you flop Basso & Brooke in my lap. I'm going to disagree with ya, I thought Christopher Kane and Louise Goldin presented the best shoe collections of the week...but...I hadn't seen these skyscrapers.

I don't need to read another thing you've finished off LFW beautifully.

WOW those tights are dreamlike amazing. As with the knit dress... fairytale beautiful.

stockings.. I want them.

Those stockings are so stunning. I am such a tights addict.

that sweater is really something!

The pierced shades are great.

Thanks for sharing images and thoughts about so many of the upcoming beautiful trends. I love the vibrant colour and rich textures...that hosiery is absolutely divine.

My yearning has reached an almost sexual peak with this post. I want SO MUCH here...the chainmail, the spidery knits, the pierced sunglasses!!!

i found myself loving those tights at eley kishimoto too! they looked like scales to me and as much as i detest (or rather am totally petrified by) reptiles in general, i couldn't help but put them on my mental wishlist.

i like your coverage of lfw the best :)

those eley kishimoto leg photos are just stunning... i want! also, i'm glad someone else liked nathan jenden - he seems to be getting quite a slating which i really don't think was deserved! i liked the way he did 80s shapes and colours, but really played with texture - like the cocktail umbrellas (reminded me of a window display in manchester harvey nichols!) and that sort of ragged patchwork quilting. and i'm also wowed by all that louise gray metalwork, makes me even more determined to actually make my diy bodychain!

I didn't like Nathan or Henry Holland (emperors new clothes anyone?) so I'm in agreement with Style.com! Love these pics. Can I borrow one for my blog?

The Mark Fast dress is amazing. I want that dress along with the Rodarte black-knit-ripped tights . I'm daydreaming. Sigh.

right on right on right on.
i didnt see pictures of the louise gray show yet, must go hunting for them later.

THANK YOU THANK YOU

I have been desperately looking for London SS09' accessories, doesn't anyone realize that we are nuts about accessories right now, sigh....

I love Nathan Jensen. I really love Eley Kishimoto.

Fantastic tights!!!
I want them all !!!

these image totally beat the regular style.com ...visible detail is what's drawn me in.

I love the photos too (not had anything to compare them to though!) and you can savour and pour over a photo so much better than a model - I would imagine, never had the opportunity to try! I love that Fast dress and the green scallop tights (I WANT those shoes with them too!) the gradient seems more subtle than with the red ones - or is it just the shoes mean it takes you longer to notice..?

I was at Basso&Brook and all I could say the whole way through was...

"The Shoes"

My body was shaking. It was amazing!
