Mighty Tights
So apparently some of you got the email from Urban Outfitters with me parading a lot of tights in my new hovel. Despite the blood/sweat/tears (I still can't quite get over the fact that I actually shed those exact three things in the course of moving... it's just too neatly cliched for words...), I did find time to delve into a bag of tights that Urban Outfitters very kindly sent me to outfit-test (much better than road-testing seeing as I don't have a license...). Yes, there it is, I do take freebies in the name of the blog. Please condemn me to the pile of sell-outs. But rather than taking their tights and saying 'Ta very much' and unsubtly/subtly working it into outfits on this blog here, they have done a mini-project on their own UO site (is it me or have they had a site redesign...?) and presented my various UO-tighted up outfits along with a Q&A. A different project from the normal 'Please send a high-res press pic of yourself' (I ask you...what blogger has their own press pack?!?). I am now having to work out some sort of an ingenious storage system whereby I SEE all of my tights (UO merely added to the mammoth collection that I have gathered...)... some sort of a climbing frame device perhaps?

saw the pics & read the story.... the tights look killer, as you always do........ ps. LUV your blog..... so much inspiration, <3. xo

Still excited about this...and on tights, of all things! I have an unhealthy passion for tights, and can't wait for fall so I can wear them myself. Again, keep up the good work!

Let it be known to all and sundry - I would sell out in a heartbeat. In. A. Heartbeat.
So many people are profiling you that by the time we do that podcast again it'll be me asking you what ice cream you like.

Ah susie, I adore you, you're fun and stylish at the same time! Purely out of curiosity, whereabouts is your new hovel (don't want to stalk you, but have seen you around my neigbourhood a bit!) And also, where did you get your beuatiful fringe-scarf (Tim Ryan?)
Keep on rocking...

I love this so much, especially the gold leggings and the orange dress together. also you know the second to the last outfit, is that a belt or braces on the waist?!!, it looks supercool
Posted by: Chic Looks | 29 August 2008 at 19:57
I wish I had that many pairs of tights! The metallic leggings are as cool as. They make me think of robots :D
Love the blog by the way!

This is a weird thing to notice, but my apartment came furnished with the exact same sofas that you have in the new one! And they are bloody uncomfortable. Commiserations. Although the rest of the apartment looks f-a-b (what a kitchen! Yummm.)

what dream freebies!! do you mind that everytime someone asks you the same questionnaire question, like what mad you start blogging/how would you describe your style, that you answer totally differently? i seem to! plus i just looked at their tights and they have those chanel style tights with the black at the back in, why is the page $56?! lets hope they get them to the uk
Posted by: selina | 29 August 2008 at 20:26
Haha, we won't banish you to the sell out pile. But we are very jealous, or I am anyway. Nice haul, and I love the ways you worked them in.
In the picture with the trench coat, are you wearing a leopard print skirt? I can't quite make out the pattern, but I love the skirt!

Jesus, that's amazing! I'd bloomin' love to get sent something like that. I will be stalking UO this autumn gazing at the Luella collection with envious eyes...

Susie, it was so amazing seeing this in my inbox (UO newsletter)- how awesome! We've been fans of your fashion blog forever (okay since 2006) and you inspired us to start our own in early 07. I'm glad UO picked you up- and though I'm a UO fan, I find your style much more inspiring.
Thanks!

I really enjoyed your interview with UO. Cool
Posted by: songy | 30 August 2008 at 05:48
I received that email today and at first I thought I read the subject line wrong, or they were ripping off your name. But then when I clicked on it, nope, it was you! So awesome!
Posted by: yulanda | 30 August 2008 at 06:09
they couldn't have picked a better advocate of tights :)
Posted by: adreamer | 30 August 2008 at 06:37
too right you take tights! I told Faulke to send you some but I bet they didn't get round to it.
UO have been tres clever and i love the mix of enterprise and self - perfect!
Posted by: Make Do & Mend | 30 August 2008 at 12:54
You're not a sell-out, I've no doubt you speek your mind about the tights. I've a fashion blog too and I publish information for a lot of local brands and never ask for anything in return, although sometimes they send gifths afterwards. And I've never changed my mind about a brand or a product because of it.
Congratulations on the new place, it looks grat!! And I love the animal print skirt.
Bye

I can't wait until it's cool enough where I live to wear tights. I love the colored tights, and the outfits you've paired them with!

OMG I really love the silver one!!! I rarely visit Urban Outfitter...maybe I should pop in and have a look at their range of tights.

Posted by: Aja | 01 September 2008 at 06:54
congratulations susie! :) I think I'm going to have to spend some money at UO now.

I hope you didn't misinterpret my jokey tone :)

Claire: Spider Web tights would be amazing... I have spide web knee high socks...
Stella: The Tim Ryan scarf was from...Tim Ryan himself!
Mouse: It's not too bad...I've had worse! It's a bog-standard, rental apartment sofa...
Selina: I have taken to copying and pasting answers...it's pretty bad...try not to answer too differently!
Chic Looks: It was part of the dress actually - Marios Schwab for Topshop.
Jill & Pauk: The skirt is actually a ditzy floral print...not leopard print...we all know how rubbish I am with animal prints!
Thom: I take ice cream very seriously...it's a weighty subject to discuss!
Wanda: I really must meet up with Elizabeth sometime soon...!
Jana: As with any high street store, it all depends on the item.... I used to shop there quite obsessively actually though...
Aja: Course not! Anyway.... I am a sell-out!
