Braaaaazil...
It's very cringing but these days I feel like I'm making myself out like I'm some sort of jet setter which I'm really not. Apologies for lack of posts/comments etc (I've said that twice this month...that's pretty poor form...) as I've been a little frantic/fraught trying to prepare for a three day trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil. I leave tonight and there's still about a gazillion things to be done which invariably won't be done but let's not get into the specifics of that. If I'm honest, I'm a little unclear as to what will be going on in Sao Paulo but I know it involves Vogue Brasil, me giving a 20 minute presentation about the blog and this is all in association with some Brazilian electrical appliances company Brastemp. Honestly, I'm not really overly clued up as I only got an e-ticket for the flights two minutes ago. I'm a wee bit tentative given that my track record with Brazil hasn't been great. No, I've not been before but for a while, I got a series of rather demented emails/comments all routing back to someone in Brazil, making jibes that I had lost weight/gained weight/am ugly etc etc (the usual malarky...). Of course, this is silly tosh that I should ignore because a) Brazil is ma-hussive and not everyone is going be giving me jip about my weight and b) said nutter hopefully won't be at this event.
Anyhow, the folks over in Sao Paulo asked me to make a 15 second clip introducing myself. I think they wanted a web-cam basic kinda video but of course, fish bowl web cams freak me out and the giggles means I'd never get 5 seconds of the video done let alone 15 so I thought I'd do something a little simpler....excuse the rushed voice, who knew fitting an intro about oneself in 15 seconds could be so difficult...?

This is great!!! Delicate and efficient. Enjoy your mysterious trip.

You sound quite different to how your blogs sound in my head! Weird, I know.
What is the music on the video? It's lovely.
Have a great time.

Wow, jetsetting susie - much fun in brasil!
The video turned out to be really cool - considering that you had to sum up what you're all about in a mere 15secs. Good idea with the simplistic cuts. Furthermore, you sound incredibly cute. I personally hate my own voice.
Posted by: the_kitten | 14 July 2008 at 13:28
oh yes and I totally dig the British accent, and also that hilarious Chinese scribble ^^
Posted by: the_kitten | 14 July 2008 at 13:29
That's my first visit to your blog, it's pretty cool.
About São Paulo, don't worry. I'm quite sure you're gonna love it and you'll have a really great time there.

Hi. This is my first time writing a comment to you and I'm really sorry to hear about the not so nice comments that have been made by other brazilians.
Evem though I live in Rio, I'm sure you gonna have a great time in São Paulo, as it is our capital of Fashion.
I have to say that I really enjoy your posts and your sharp point of view.
Best wishes.

this is great susie!! I would love to see a video of the presentation!

I hope Sao Paulo treat you right, Susie! I`m sure you are going to have a good time, there are a zillion things to be seen there and, as Michelle pointed out, it`s the brazilian capital of fashion. Good luck on the flight, though, around 12 hours in a plane is no fun at all.(I`m brazilian but live in Ireland and take that flight at least twice a year, I know the pain!)!!
Posted by: Alline | 14 July 2008 at 15:53
hummmm.... I think I figured out what`s it going to be: Brastemp, a brazilian electrical appliances company, is sponsoring an international bloggers forum in Sao Paulo. There`ll be 5 bloggers telling what it`s like to be a blogger, including our darling Susie, The Coveted, a girl from Panama that has a blog about food and 2 brazilian bloggers. VIP invitations only were distributed and there`ll be a part afterwards. Have fun, Susie!!!

ooo exciting! i love the little things and details you've added about yourself, videos of 'vloggers' taking into cameras are always strange!
Posted by: selina | 14 July 2008 at 20:23
Oooer...Brazil? Exciting (except for the single crazy giving you flak!), but also quite mysterious. I hope you have a good trip.

that's a really nice video. the music really suits the tone of your voice. It's actually a really nice way to introduce yourself on a website, instead of an "about me" section. It's cool to be able to put a voice to your words now, thanks, great post! xxx
