Walk with me and get lost....

The man/boy himself...

Twalkerhim

The introduction, the inspiration, the thought process...

Timwalkerintro

The props that have helped his work immensely...

Timwalkerprops

The scrapbooks he puts together before and after each shoot...

Twalkerscrap

The pictures, the visions, the dreams, the magic...

Timwalker2

Timwalkerpics

The affirmation that Vogue is still worth buying into because of the stages that he creates...

Timwalkerquote

The £70 book that really needs to be on my coffee table (of course, I need to move into a flat WITH a coffee table...)...

Timwalkerbook

Apologies for being annoyingly cryptic.  In the end, the images reveal all.  It's merely an image-heavy, less-long winded way of urging EVERYONE to go see the Tim Walker exhibition at the Design Museum in London (on until 7th Sept...) if you want to get lost and escape in a good way for an hour...

I wish I were in London. His work looks amazing. Thanks for showing us this. I'll be sure to check him out...and see if that book is available here somewhere...

I'm going to London next month especially to visit this exhibition (among a few others). I was already dying to see it, but with your note, it's getting worse! I love it, thanks for sharing all those great and inspiring pics.

Score!

That gives me exactly one day to catch it.

/DCB.

i gasped when i saw this post, honestly i'm trying to not sound like an obsessed groupie but i LOOOOOOOOVE Tim Walker, he is just my favorite photographer ever! i adore his work because generally his images look like how i'd imagine the inside of my mind to look - all teaparties, polka dots and haze...

Oooo! I read about the book in Vogue and its on the top of my wishlist! Love Tim Walkers photography, its so magical, I always want to slip into whatever fantasy land he has created and live there. I didn't know about the exhibition though...another reason for a trip to London. Hmm...time to formulate a cunning plan!

just thought i'd mention the book is only £42 on amazon... which is a pretty big saving!

what an indulgent read! cannot risk a whole summer without visiting it

Oh I am so going to this! Thank you for doing this entry, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise! I am a bit rubbish when it comes to knowing about good exhibitions!

Love the model in the red dress acting as a bookmark in the huge book!

Oh oops wrong account!

I wrote a little post on Tim Walker right yesterday too! I love his wok and the editorial with Lily Cole is my favorite ever. I need the book, definitely, and - who knows? - maybe I'll finally be able to come to London before September!!!

The fancy dress store Walker writes about is still there on Hammersmith Road, London. Tho not so magical. Fancy dress has become a bit of a pseudonym for sex wear. ;-)

Yay. Tim Walker is my favourite.
I'm moving to London coming semester and I figured I'd move into my room two weeks before the start of my term. But that would mean missing this exhibition... Hmmm, may have to leave a little earlier. ;)

oh gosh, thank you for sharing! maybe i'll make it to london in time to see this!
:)

I almost loved the sketchbooks more than the photos (....almost)! I used to live near Hammersmith Rd and never saw that shop! But I remember one called Barnums opposite Olympia...but that wasn't so special. To think our paths might have crossed though! By the way, Dover St Market has a Tim Walker display in its window at the mo apparently.

Personally I think the real talent lies with Shona Heath, it's her who creates a lot of the sets.
Also the work of various stylists (Lucinda Chambers quite often)is very apparent in his photos.
I don't really feel he's a real talent as a photographer, but rather he just documents the interesting scenes made by collaborators.

I absolutely love Tim Walker! Shame on him for printing such an expensive book though.. I want it!

P.S. Thanks for the tip missmilki!

thanks for this post, the photos are amazing. i recently found out about tim walker in vogue, and i love his work. my favourite picture is the one of lily cole on the stairs with the realy long blue dress. its so beautiful. thanks susie :]

I love Tim Walker and need to get to this exhibition as soon as my exams finish!

oh i want to go to this exhibition so bad but i'll have to comrpomise with the book instead!! (of course, if i decide spending almost 100euros). luv luv his work.

I love Tim Walker's work so much. I wish I could go to London to see this exhibit.

you post the most amazing photos.

This looks so incredible, and totally inspiring. You are sooooo lucky to live in a city where you have access to such things. Thanks for sharing so generously!

I love Tim Walker, I'm praying that I get this book for my birthday in a few months. Wish it didn't cost so much and I'd be buying it now!

The book arrived this morning and I LOVE it!!
Amazon is selling it for £42

Post pictures of your cage dress! I'm so interested to see what you do with it. It really is gorgeous.

this is a weird thing to say but his pictures often make me miss my granny. they evoke that very english, slightly dotty (sorry granny - only past the age of 90 of course) "come round for a cuppa and a french fondant fancy and I'll tell you about that time I was in India on the elephant" kind of era. Or maybe it's just me...

Archive Notes

  • As I post so frequently, the archive is organised by week but this blog has been up and running since March 2006 so if you want to read from the ye olde beginning, just keep going back through the weeks or alternatively, go through the archives via Category.

  • It's back to ol' YouTube vids then... I'm obsessed with this track by Miike Snow... a little disturbed that these are the same guys who came up with Britney's Toxic...
