Pinky Givenchy
(Pic from Fabsugar)
I REALLY don't normally put up celeb pics up but you had to make an exception for me for the Met Costume Institute Ball right? Frankly, all in all, I was underwhelmed with the turnout considering there is 'costume' and 'ball' in the title of the event and the theme is freakin' 'Superheroes'. Alas no masks, capes or skintight bodysuits/catsuits to be found but Christina Ricci trumped it for me in a dare I say uncharacteristic coral and pink Givenchy gown. *Slaps wrist* for suggesting that Mr Riccardo Tisci was all about the black in my commentary on the Hyeres competition as he has dealt with two possibly quite difficult colours superbly, made a long length drape beautifully and worked in interesting detailing. Definitely also picking out a slightly Wonder Woman sillhouette going on in the bodice which is thankful because I'm really thinking some people forgot about the theme entirely...

I wasn't expecting any superhero outfit, people are really boring these days

I'm really glad you posted this! I saw a bunch of other dresses from that night, but this one really stood out for me! I'm not usually thrilled with celeb wear, but this is so creative and so beautiful!
Givenchy is my real Hero!

i like how the bodice looks like a heart, and points to her for simple hair and makeup, yet she still wears the dress, rather than it wearing her!
why no real super heros though? pity no luella masks were in sight

This is the only one that stood out to me. I think she looks lovely, but I never would have guessed she'd be dressed the best at this event in a million years!

She was one of my favorites.

She was the best dressed by FAR. GORGEOUS!
I've been feeling on the fence about Riccardo Tisci but this is really making me like him.

I was really excited by the theme of the ball and thought we were going to see some great designs. Unfortunately this hasn't happened, Ricci was definitely the best dressed there.

I was really looking forward to seeing the pics from this too, I love Ricci's dress but I don't really see the superheroes theme.
Going to check all the other dresses out now

EXACTLY, thank you, where in the hell were the masks? People, how many opportunities do you get to wear a cute little Bat Girl mask?
Ricci looks incredible.

Christina Ricci whilst having one of the most beautiful faces in the world could never be put the statuesque model category that is until Riccardo transformed her into a real life svelte Jessica Rabbit (the superhero's gal) - brilliant and beautiful - Riccardo nails it again.

Christina Ricci is so amazing! Thank you for posting this. :)

Yes,a great look for Christina Ricci, but what do you think about Katie Holmes' giant blue shoes?
The shoes are nearly as big as Tom himself, and yet kind of inspired, with the red ballgown. I thought she looked stunning. If only she were a real live person!

this sort of reminds me of i dream of jeanie but i can see the superhero influence. what a neat theme, i want to look at the rest of the outfits!

She was definitely my favorite of the night. A stunning choice and she pulls it off well.

Gorgeous dress! Christina is certainly alluring in a non-traditional beauty kind of way. I agree that she definitely wears the dress rather than the other way around.

With all that scope for dressing up, I'm rather disappointed that so few of the slebs did (I liked Rachel Bilson's dress too, though, but this one is the pretty- the concept of creating a superheroes look using chiffon instead of spandex is rather cool, really)

Oh yeah, this was definitely one of my favorite looks of the night. I was actually impressed enough by the gown to stare for a bit and yelp, "Go Christina!!"

I love the bodice body and the belt but, really, the chiffony, drapey thing is... not doing it for me.
Incidentally, Victoria Beckham, made an effort to dress up, she just got it so terribly wrong - as usual.

Oops! So much for my editing skills!

I agree completely. She looked amazing but why weren't people more over the top? If there's one time a year you can get away with it, it's the Met's costume ball. I demand more capes!

Has no one noticed that the bodice doesn't really appear to sit normally on her? In all of the pictures I have seen, it looks like it is oddly off to the side, making her torso look somewhat contorted. I want to reach into the picture and straighten her out!
BUT, it is a great dress for the party and she looks radiant.

My fave too, I'm not normally a big fan of her style but she's excellent in this dress.

She was my favorite of the night. Her and Amber Valetta looked smashing.
I'm curious Susie, what would you have chosen to wear if you got invited? Pray share!
