Links Warning!

  • The links list just grows and grows and it has got to the point where there are now too many links. Unfortunately, I am unable to add anymore as the page length is running out unless it's something exceptionally good. To free up space, I'll be cleaning up my links if the blog isn't updated in over a month or it's not updated that often, I shall be deleted links because the list is just... so... long isn't it?

The little Biches....

Funnily enough if you add a t into Les Biches, you get an entirely different English meaning to the French word 'Biches' which means female deer or in the context of this AW08-9 collection by Ostwald Helgason, a designer I discovered last season, the title Les Biches refers to yet another Ballets Russes production.  Nope, nothing to do with Bitches, because Susanne Oswalt and Ingvar Helgason have drawn influence from a debauched drawing room party (where is that drawing room of mine to have such debachery...?) where an innocent-minded girl may be subject to corruption.

So pretty satins and silks teeter on the edge of ruin with the neoprene and nylon.  Woodland prints and cute Bambi motifs are jostling with prints of deer fur and curtain drapes, suggesting the heaviness of old fashioned drawing rooms.  It all comes off looking quite eclectic as a collection where people might question the 'flow' of it.  I'd liken their work a little to what Giles Deacon does, that appealing randomness in his collection where you're a little like 'Eh?' but at the end of the day, you can't deny the beauty of it, even if it is a strange sort.  I think if I was ever in a drawing room party (likelihood being zero...), then a bit of strange beauty would go a long way to making me feel comfortable in that slightly odd situation.

-Giselle

Those are some pretty stunning images, beautiful!

I really thought the title was 'The Little Bitches' I laughed out loud, then I realized my eyes had deceived me. Anyway, I love the fawns on the clothes, but the one on the right looks a bit possessed.

oh, man, where do you get those tights?

This is cool stuff. I love that first vest/gilet thing.

i want those tights! all of them!

I really like all of these, a lot. Thank you for mentioning them, I'll be looking into Ostwald's work!

This collection offsets textures in a wonderfully delicious mix of weighted fabrics. It just makes sense: the velvety heaviness opposes airy translucence in just the right balance. Delightful.

great concept:) love the degrade on the legs.

I have fallen in love with those tights! I must take some time aside for a dyi project(:

Little Miss UPS

  • **NOTE** From now until Jan 2008, I unfortunately will not be able to take any more Little Miss UPS orders as I quite literally have no time to run to the post office unless I hire a dogsbody to do it for me.... forgive me and I promise everything will be resumed come January!

Just to reiterate an earlier post I am now offering to purchase items from the UK to ship internationally for those of you that covet something Brit-tastic.  I can even, time permitting, buy stuff in-store in London depending on how specific you are with what you want.  Here's how it works:

    1) Pick/Choose what you want to buy - email me with the request.  I will check availability and work out shipping costs and tell you the grand total.

    2) You Paypal me the money first and then I will order/purchase the items requested.

    3) Once I receive the items, I will then ship to you straight away = happy days!

Here are some British-based sites that are iffy about shipping abroad:

Topshop Though they now ship to the USA! , ASOS, Dorothy Perkins, Kurt Geiger
