OMFG.....! WTF?
>>Excuse all stupid internet acronyms..... but OMFG... WTF.... Comme des Garcons for H&M... post roberto Cavalli, we get the magnificent Rei Kawakubo doing a range of *takes a deep breath* womenswear, menswear, childresnwear, accessories and a unisex fragrance for H&M. Short of saying Miuccia Prada for H&M, this comes as the shock of all shocks to me (perhaps fashion insider circles are nodding their heads wisely and saying 'Yeah...and what?'). The range will hit H&M in Tokyo at the beginning and then roll out in stores worldwide a few days later.
For now, I can only say OMFG...WTF.... and once I have processed that, I will give some meaningful analysis of this news...

tres exciting but...
at the beginning of Tokyo????

This is insane and all I can do is repeat the same words as you: OMG, WTF!!! Where did you get this info from???
Posted by: July Stars | 03 April 2008 at 10:24
Vogue.co.uk has reported it but I believe other newsites have broken the news too.... Belle: In my excitement, lost ability to type properly...corrected now!
Posted by: susie_bubble | 03 April 2008 at 10:27
Great news! I hope it will be better than the Cavalli collection!
Posted by: Cily | 03 April 2008 at 10:39
sosososososo sooooo great
Posted by: horst | 03 April 2008 at 11:32
I knew that H&M was finally opening in Tokyo because my husband taught someone involved in it English, but now this. WOW. So amazing.

shock
Posted by: Allure | 03 April 2008 at 11:46
Why is everyone so surprised, Comme is a money making machine too you know, ready to exploit third world production with cheaper tat now also it seems.
The funny thing is that nobody seems to notice how these companies, Comme, Margiela etc market themselves, believing the brands to be almost anti-fashion, no one seems to notice how clever and subliminal their marketing actually is, and how much time/money they spend on it.
In selling their own mainline clothes from very cheap fabrics in really quick constructions for a huge mark-up they are not really great designers but are actually superb merchandisers.
The Comme H&m range will most likely look exactly like mainline Comme because it's so cheap to make anyway.
Not hating here, but does nobody stop to think about the suffering that goes into making really cheap clothes...

Oooh!Never knew that!

clutch pearls and repeat...reach for brown paper bag...take myself to bed!!!!
Haley and Imelda might live at the arse-end of the world but my despotic ears had heard the same thing but the whole Comme thing...Susie screw the 'meaningful analysis', it's a slam down sell-out!

1...2....3...huzzah :]

Ho ho ho...
Posted by: susie_bubble | 03 April 2008 at 14:08
This is the biggest step up from Roberto Cavalli one could make I think!

November?
Tha's AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGES away!
Can't wait!
Posted by: meemalee | 03 April 2008 at 14:09
An unlikely combo (well, atleast designwise) but I'm waiting for your analysis on this one.
Posted by: indie | 03 April 2008 at 15:33
Wow! This'll be really interesting!
Posted by: Jeanne | 03 April 2008 at 16:39
Similarly stunned, I don't know whether to be terribly disappointed at the selling out/creative compromise that is inevitable in such a collaboration or just excited to see what comes out of it!
Posted by: Iheartfashion | 03 April 2008 at 17:09
i too was gawping over catwalk queen this morning, definitely a collection to wait in line for, and hopefully one where the lines aren't tooooo long!
Posted by: selina | 03 April 2008 at 17:21
wow! that's a shock! i imagine this will sell out in 1.2 seconds and possibly 2 ambulances have to wait outside.
Posted by: candid cool | 03 April 2008 at 18:50
Hmm....I'd like to get excited, it's very tempting, but can can any of these high street collaborations really live up to the expectations? Prove me wrong, Comme des Garcons, prove me wrong!
Posted by: denise @ The Swelle Life | 03 April 2008 at 19:13
oh my lord... in the face of all these guest designer things... i'm kind of bummed, because most often even if they do have a 'designer' do the collection, it's still h&m.
Posted by: lady coveted | 03 April 2008 at 19:19
So, expect the unexpected...
Posted by: alicepleasance | 03 April 2008 at 19:22
Woo hoo! Save me a space at the doorway of H&M Oxford Circus - this is one I'll be queuing up for!
Posted by: Natty | 03 April 2008 at 20:10
Is it bad that I broke out in a sweat over this? Im very excited.I hope the easy route of graphic tees isnt the only one taken. Again...excitement!!!
Posted by: edie | 03 April 2008 at 20:34
I'm there!
Posted by: rollergirl | 03 April 2008 at 20:56
I will be there fighting I think!!!!
I just hope they will sell it in another big city in my country (they did with V&R) That way I might be able to get something, as I won't have to fight the other insane fashionistas
Posted by: mies | 03 April 2008 at 21:33
*screams*
Ok not really but I definitely just jumped up and down and almost swallowed my gum.... COMME DES GARCONS FOR H&M!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Stephanie | 03 April 2008 at 22:15
i didn't know people could actually flail in real life until i did it when i heard the news. AIEEEEEEEEEEEEE MAMA I am so excited.
Posted by: belle | 04 April 2008 at 03:21
I am very excited for this!!!
!!!!!
Posted by: tea hobbyist | 04 April 2008 at 06:09
okay, i will rob the store at night.
Posted by: sanjina | 04 April 2008 at 06:28
Yes, lots of happy campers with me...
David: You raise some good points and it is true.... CdG has many lines that are just money spinners. However, I somehow think Rei will be get this sort of high-low balance right precisely because she knows things can be done cheaply.
Posted by: susie_bubble | 04 April 2008 at 09:24
This will be an interesting collaboration.
Have you been to the new H&M by the way? The one in Regent Street... wow, it is amazing.. so spacious and stress free!!
Posted by: decadentdiamond | 04 April 2008 at 11:34
OH EM GEE!! Squealing with excitement... the guest designer thing has really taken off... I just hope everyone doesn't wind up with all the same stuff...siiigh... thanks for the heads up, dahling.
Posted by: Love & Lipgloss | 05 April 2008 at 00:41
"Short of saying Miuccia Prada for H&M..."
lol... if that ever happened, i will possibly fly to the nearest h&m that stocks the collection and for the first time ever, camp outside waiting for a shop to open.
Posted by: evie | 06 April 2008 at 13:01
I can only hope that they will create some truly unwearable items. Some veritable asymetrical whimsies.
I can't really bring myself to shop at H&M, though. Echoing what Allure posted eariler, there is a real human cost to cheap clothes. I'll remain a second-hand rose.
