Homage to Minerva Mouse

Rarely do I take a magazine's advice word for word but in Pop (no, the fall issue hasn't been brainfed into me... I'm just digging their contents selectively...), they pay homage to Minverva, otherwise known as Minnie Mouse and advises to 'adopt a Crayola attitude to make-up, wear a bow that's as big as your head and always wear something that screams "Yoo-hoo!"'.  Minnie Mouse as a fashion inspiration isn't something new and there are countless times where you could shout 'There goes a Minnie Mouse look!' - most literal this season though is Comme Des Garcons' pastel garb mixed with Minnie Mouse ears and trademark bows.

So seeing as it's Bank Holiday weekend and summer is coming to a close, I was up for playing up to my version of Minerva Mouse complete with sticky-outy dotty dress, big satin bow on the head and adding a CdG touch with the lavender additions (top tucked into the bustier and a smear of Barry M lip paint).  I assumed that Minnie was a well-groomed kinda gal so she probably moisterised her legs resulting in my slicked up rubber leggings as an interpretation of Minnie's perfect pins.  Both Minnie and Mickey both favoured shoes with a clump (because in Disney, you can't really be having that much fun wearing stilettos....), so on goes some comically chunky mary jane wedges.

I'm so ready to be animated....

Archive Notes

  • As I post so frequently, the archive is organised by week but this blog has been up and running since March 2006 so if you want to read from the ye olde beginning, just keep going back through the weeks or alternatively, go through the archives via Category.

  • It's back to ol' YouTube vids then... I'm obsessed with this track by Miike Snow... a little disturbed that these are the same guys who came up with Britney's Toxic...
