What?! You mean I won?!
Ok, I will cease the eBay harping but honestly, I'm just a little shell-shocked. I had this Balenciaga AW03 jacket on watch for ever so long and with the no-reserve, starting from $1 bid, I just couldn't resist. The AW03 collection was when I truly started getting in to the Ghesquière groove of things so I guess I was thinking if I won the jacket, and I wore it, it would be like me wearing a memory. More importantly, I love the assymetrical shape of it, the combo of colours and materials, the techno-patchwork effect, the little zips and poppers. Also, I've lately been into looking at recent year collections, with shops like 127 on Brick Lane that sell designer deadstock being my favourite haunt, these are clothes that don't quite make it into the vintage category but aren't so 'last season' that it's immediately recognisable.
I was one of those annoying people who you hate who scam in on your auction at the very last minute. In the last 40 seconds, I just put in my absolute maximum price of $210, thinking that someone would snipe me in the last 10 seconds anyway but surprisingly, no-one did and the very euphoric screen of 'You have won this item' came up.
The auction being in USD also makes this a bit of a steal (ok, not STEAL-steal) but I don't think £100 for a designer memory piece is too much of a price to pay. I'm a little giddy about receiving it and will be concocting outfits that will probably aim to heavily contrast with the aesthetic of the jacket, with results posted here obviously...
On a more practical note, I could have done with the waterproof qualities of the jacket today when I rushed outside in the flash-flooding rain with nothing but a skimpy cotton vest and now.... I'm suffering for it.... weekend cold...lovely.

This was such a freakin genius collection, completely ahead of its time, the Thierry Mugler influence all happening now, so truly, congratulations with a smidgin of envy thrown in. It's too bad that he only hit the black when he did the Victorian-Edwardian commercial crap. Those black latex leggings are now all over the runways.

HA HA. I think that balencaiga jacket is really ugly. Definitely not the most beautiful piece of the collection. But I love it. Can't wait to see you wearing it...
