Dying to Tie, or Tying to Dye....
Well, revival and refresh is the name of the game in fashion and that pattern could befall anything. Even tie dye. Let those memories of tie dying your own t-shirts with Dylon wash over you. TIe dye was actually my first garment-related DIY project and even though the t-shirt I made was pretty awful looking (it wasn't such a great idea to swirl purple and blue together apparently...), I wore it incessantly just to point out to people 'Hey I made this!' (yes, you can now condemn me to the pits of pathetic sadness...).
For AW07-8, Nicholas Ghesquiere has apparently formed a trend called 'boho-tec' for Balenciaga (what is it with fashion people's obsession with new takes on the word boho.....seriously??) clashing tie-dye, Palestinian scarves with Lego-clad shoes.
Of course purposely procuring tie dye garments, such as the Balenciaga polo necks now, seems a little ridiculous considering the amount of scrunched up DIY tie-dye t-shirts floating around the land of the forgotten (aka my wardrobe circa 1996). I also happen to have this tie dye dress by Mr Freedom (the recently revived 60's 'pop imagery' fashion label...) which I may not wear in a 'boho-tec' way (whatever the hell that means....) but will most certainly wear so that any connotations of hippy and bad Camden Market stalls are banished.
Afterall, tie dye is just another pattern. Let some black lame leggings, elbow length leather gloves and some half ankle boot/shoes ebb away the 'naffness'.

hopefully we won't get to see dyed jeans....that idea scares me a whole lot. It's brings back my childhood memories when I dyes a pair of purple jeans and they became orange! like a bad, bad tint of purpley orange. I was young....

I'm not a big fan of tie dye, but I love what you've done. I actually like the Balenciaga-collection...I love the Palestinian scarfs with the attached coins/charms. When I have the time (doesn't that always seem to be the issue?!) I'm gonna buy some cheap scarf and some belly-dancer-ish coins from eBay and do some magic!

I used to hate tie dye (I didn't even like the Miu Miu bags this season). But your outfit is just stunning. You convinced me :-)

Oh god, I used to tie dye EVERYTHING I could get my hands on when I was about 14.
I can't ever go back. It'll forever have hippy, dread-locked festival go-er connotations for me.

Goodness me, I really don't like tie dye... It's just seems so tacky to me! I must admit though, you seem to pull it off! You would never catch me wearing it though, hehe!

I disagree with trying to unhippyify tie die.. :(

Tie dye, Hmmm 80s :D I quite like some tye dye, not wear it my self tho :D
What you are wearing is quite tasteful, tho that could be the long gloves greatly enhancing the taste factor :)
Altho, would long tye dyed gloves be tasteful?

I mean, I grew up during the flower power and never had some tie-dye then - and what happens, now I'm helping to revive that time and import the stuff into the USofA - but as an excuse I can say that this is not your standard obnoxious spiral in the chest - I would be embarrassed by that .
