I mentioned last week that shamefully, I purchased Topshop's grey satin turbans and that I would try some outfits that wouldn't be shouting 'Look at me, I'm chanelling Prada SS07' despite the blatant reference with the turban. Well mission accomplished. For a start, the turban is more normal and mundane looking than one might think and I should have known since it is Topshop, that it would be tame in comparisom to the real McCoy (which I saw on Sloane Street priced at a whooping £260!). Really, one would call it a soft hat and in the steely grey, it's just easy peasy to wear.
So versatile is it, that I would venture to the office, the supermarket, a party, shopping, whatever, wherever wearing it and no-one would bat an eyelash. That sounded like some kind of cheesy infomercial but I kid you not. I was almost a little disappointed at it's boring demeanour. Still, getting a lot of wear out of a £15 hat is no bad thing and since I was out to make it last past this spring summer season, it looks like I'll most certainly accomplish that.
I found that wearing it with my fringe tucked under the turban on the left made it more 'turban' like and wearing it with the fringe out (easier for me as I have a LOT of fringe) made it more 'hat' like. So I suppose in that way, I could control the 'turban' qualities of the hat with my hair. So I guess in a way I'm thankful that Topshop was out to make a bit of dosh when they produced this turban/hat by making it as ordinary as it is.
