Definitely not a sheep in Wolf's clothing...

I have developed a style crush.  My victim of choice?  Not the usual selection of cutely dressed girls with indie leanings.  Not the grand dames with loopy/eclectic style.  No, it's Patrick Wolf and his sadly no-longer-flaming-red coiffure.  Regardless of what you think of his music, his personal style seems to reflect the same mix-ups of traditional vs. contemporary.  It's as if he treats his outfits like instrumental arrangements, with insertions of random surprises just to throw you off.  I don't really take a huge interest in hawk-eyeing celebrity styles so it's funny that the one time I do develop a style crush it's on a guy. (Note to the boyf: It's his STYLE I like, not him - promise!)

The latest Burberry ads sees Wolf subdued but still powerful in the way Christopher Bailey wants for his Medieval-fierce vibe he's going for AW07-8. A little surprised to see that Bailey had managed to persuade Wolf to be in the campaign but clearly it's yielding some good results (catches my eye more so than the femmes...)

I'm about 95% sure Wolf is self-styled and if these pictures are anything to go by, I believe Patrick Wolf is another 'style schizophrenic', much like myself, hence why I'm probably attracted to his STYLE (promise it's not HIM!). I see vintage, Ashish, preppy, dramatic, KTZ all meshed together and all working together on some level or another.

Paired with his schizophrenic style is also his attitude which I detect he has a lot of (can't figure out his personalibility from this interview but it's an interesting insight...). I mean, a checked shirt, shorts and argyle socks should be wrong on all sorts of levels but I guess if you have enough conviction, anything goes and his steely stare and uncompromisingly red hair says it all.... ok... you got me.... I'm attracted to something other than his style.... oh dear....

I am so with you, Susie. I saw him play at the Bowery here in NYC a few months ago, and I was screaming like a girl at a Beatles' concert, lol.
He completely outshines the models in those ads.

I definitely love him and have for a very long time. I always refer to him as "My British Boyfriend Who Is Waiting to be Informed of this Information". Love his style, his non-conformity and especially his music (favorite album is "Wind in the Wires").

OMG PATRICK WOLF!! Love his music, love his style. And love you for loving him. :)

When I saw him last, he was wearing a shiny turquoise shirt with a red collar, high-waisted denim shorts with red suspenders, knee-high red socks and turquoise platform shoes. It was amazing.

I already knew what you were going to post with just reading the title. And i'm glad you did, actually I was waiting for you to post something about him. Oh I sound so obsessed!

I really enjoy the Burberry ads, the first time it was like "oh surprise!" but at the same time it really looks like him.

A lot of guys could learn from his hair. It's perfect in both styles.

How bizarre!I had no idea he was modelling for Burberry.

He's always been a great dresser. He's known for customising his clothes. When I saw him a few years ago, he was looking great. Lots of mugging at the crowd from his piano, but great nonetheless.
Pics here if you fancy them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jodi/sets/408991/
Also: note the costume change for the last couple of photos!

It's so rare to see boys do the dressing-up thing, and to push the envelope the way he does...nice change from indie boys in Dior Homme (not that I don't like those), so Mr Wolf really is good to watch.

Edward Larrikin from Larrikin Love (R.I.P) is in there aswell. He usually has a pretty quirky Victorian ruffian style, although not on par with Patrick

i love boys in pearls

I belive he is styled in part by Cassette Playa, though this may be rumour.

for such a pretty boy, he packs a mean punch. dude gave his drug-addled drummer a bloody nose when he played here in NYC. he still managed to look fucking perfect, of course. impeccable style, especially for somone so young.

Definitely not a sheep in wolf's clothing. More like a guy who likes the attention from girls but shares his bed with a man.

I LOVE Patrick! Both his music and his style are amazing. He's so unbelievably talented and inspiring.

Erm who IS he? Fill me in someone please!

don't think patrick is styled by cassette playa. but has had stagewear made by pil and galia who did the recent amazing asparagus ballet with les georges leningrad composing.

does anyone have any images/footage of patrick at glastonbury? i made a dress for his sister/back vocalist and haven't seen it on screen! links?

that shade of red hair is astounding!

I am a stylist who has worked with Patrick before. He definitely brings his own ideas to the table. While he will have stylists for videos, press shoots, etc.. it's always his own idea of what he wants to wear. The boy is 100% original; no one at his record label/managment has any power or say over what he wears or how he should be marketed (like most other artists).

Rollergirl: Patrick Wolf is a musician...his music is sort of folky/electronic - quite eclectic. Check out his MySpace to make a judgement....

I saw him in Feb, me and some friends donned glitter features and gemmed (is that a word?) our faces in homage to his stylin'

And when he did an encore in full length acid-yellow animal print suit - I think we were the only ones shouting 'CASSETTE PLAYAA!' as opposed to 'Patrickk we love you' or something along those lines..
