Going skinny and coloured.... ack...

Right so I think we have established I'm an all-accepting, arms-wide-open, eyes-wide-open, mind-wide-open kind of gal when it comes to fashion and personal style.  My only real objection and it is only a wee one, is blind repetition and monotony.  Skinny brightly coloured jeans are one of those things that started off a good thing but then turned into a hysteric rash washing the streets of London (and other places I gather....).  A rash that doesn't seem to want to go away, covering the legs of guys and gals alike in vibrant yellow, red (colours of choice) and also in hot pink, bright blue and now pastels.  The rash-like effect of these jeans unfortunately illicited a negative reaction from me.  It wasn't exactly a veto against them but I was prepared to innoculate myself so as to not catch the rash.

Then my high street guilty pleasure of a store gave me a subtler alternative.  Yes, I'm chatting about bloody Uniqlo AGAIN.  (Maybe that's a whole different kind of rash??)  Their range of skinny skinny jeans in a brick red, forest green and muted royal blue somehow works better for me than the brights and the pastels.  Plus, my continuous fear of trying on jeans is solved because I know can blindly pick out Uniqlo skinny skinnies and know they fit.  Plus plus, cheap as chips - £30.... get in there.   The colours remind me of faded Medieval tapestries for some reason which when combined with skinny jeans makes for something that hopefully says 'I'm not a young cooligan who can wear banana yellow jeans...... but I'm not an old fuddy duddy either.'

the blue ones are to die for. did u get em anyway? Im sure u will find a way to wear it without looking common. :-)

P.S. you got been hooked on Uniqlo so don't stop talking about it!

*you got me hooked on uniqlo*

damn- i just gave in and bought the american apparel purple jeans but now these are beckoning... what to do?

OMG, I was "whiming" the same thing last night before bed!! I want a pair of neon skinny jeans too, but just can not decide on the shade =D

You're a legend, they are the perfect blue jeans I've been searching for for ages.
I shall be off to Uniqlo tomorrow!
x

"not a young cooligan but not a fuddy duddy either"? You are quite silly susy bubble. quite silly indeed.

I've been eyeing some blue and yellow AG jeans... Now all I need to decide is which super brights to sport...

And damn, a UNIQLO is nowhere near me.

I was just looking at those last week at the HK Uniqlo. The blue is definitely my fav, though I'm currently more enamoured with the bright yellow polo tunic/dress as HK's far too hot for jeans. :p

I recently got introduced to your blog. I love lots. All of the jeans look fabulous and most importantly comfortable. I would love to get my hands on some.

The blue are wonderful!
I have just bought myself a pair of purple ones. Very pleased with them indeed. The shade is perfect!

i'm strangely attracted to those green ones...

funnyface: How silly am I on a scale of 1 to 10 ; )
Not sure I understand your comment but anyhow....

Sammi...the green is drawing me in to...

I'm flat broke at the moment....12 hours till payday but I will bag myself the blue ones for sure...maybe the green too...

they all look great on you. guess i would go for red or blue. wish i could find a store where i can be sure every jeans will fit my extraordianarily body ;-)

Oooh, they're so much nicer than the bright ones I've seen about. I personally like the green ones, but alas there is no uniqlo near me.

holy crap! uniqlo jeans are less than 10 quid each in japan. most of the things are sold for twice the original price.. but that's ridiculous.

Oh I love the green ones! When I was about 10 (so in like...1997) I had a pair of green levis handed down to me from my aunty, they were so cool and I wish I still had them since, even tho I grew out of them, they would maybe fit me again now haha!
Its weird because I'm in New Zealand and I have a pair of pastel purple skinnies (that in a weird coincedence, I"m wearing right now), I've probably had them close to two years and theyre just from a cheapie chain store, yet it seems like coloured jeans are kinda just hitting the big time over there in the last few months! Its probably like the only time NZ has been ahead of the international fashion pack, like ever!

Yeah I like the green ones the best. They're kind of different, you don't see jeans in that colour too often. Like the blue as well and the red. Really I like them all. Too bad you can't buy a pair in each colour!

does anyone have noticed that uniqlo jeans tend to stretch out too easily only after several wear? i think this is due to cheap fabric they are made of which i think is the most common con of low price range brands (you may correct me on this if i'm wrong.) after several tries i found out that you need to get them in one or two sizes smaller than your normal size in order to get the right fit. i think i must have bought every style of jeans they got in every color. i just love them. right now, i love the white/ivory straight leg ones and royal blue cropped ones the best.

you are rocking them!!! love it!

Just bought the blue ones! They are such a lovely fit and the colour is amazing!

lurve the coloured jeans...but ur cardigan is like waay cool mind lettin off where its from?

^The cardi is also from Uniqlo....

wow...i used to have jeans that exact shade of red and green back in middle school. they all look great on you, but the green is my favorite, and the blue 2nd.

hmmmmmm... must find nearest uniqlo... really quite yenning for both the green and the red. :-D
how low / high rise are they? i really hate the way some skinnies just ride down so much - not a flattering look :-(
i recently had to let go of my black cheap monday skinnies so kinda need something to fill that gaping hole in my wardrobe...
xxxc

please tell me where your sweater is from!

oh nevermind! you answered it. im going to have to stop by uniqlo this weekend

Since we're on the topic just a few questions--when you shop for skinny jeans, how do you know which is the right fit? I mean, in the photos they look pretty uncomfortable to me. Also, do your skinny jeans stretch after a while?

Its me from above, I just read curious' comment however you're free to answer anyway if you'd like.

Lovely! I have a powdery blue pair that could almost be denim that I really, really like. Bright skinnies aren't quite so mercilessly trendy here, so thye still kind of look interesting when I wear them. Plus, they make me happy.

UGh!!! Im sorry but I pray this hideous fad dies quickly!!!
I stack colored jeans with ugg boots... ill labeled as fabulous! Skinny jeans alone really aren't flattering on anyone who isnt slight, and so many are donning this style for fashion's sake without consideration of what works for their bodies.
There were leggings, now colored jeans, next will be acid wash... the 80's madness must stop NOW!

Shops here in Bucharest are chock-full of yellow and red jeans. It's hideous. Luckily my friends avoid them too, it makes quite the statement when we pass shop windows and avert our eyes simultaneously. See no evil.

uniqlo jeans do stretch out really quickly! i agree that it's the cheap fabrics they use. i've noticed that every t-shirt i've bought from uniqlo in the past year has fallen apart (like literally, after only 1 or 2 wears holes start to appear - sometimes when i'm wearing them!). i'm so boycotting uniqlo...

where did u get all the jeans

whered you get the red ones from
very stylish !

Reading the post might help...the jeans are all from UNIQLO.

Wow, I really like them all!
Where do you come from?
I live in Holland and I was searchin' @ google and found this page! Really, really love it...
I can't find a blue jeans like this...It really sucks.

uhh now those are hott i really love those skinies but i can't find some, me neather:-s

  • It's back to ol' YouTube vids then... I'm obsessed with this track by Miike Snow... a little disturbed that these are the same guys who came up with Britney's Toxic...
