Shamefully, even with cheap as chips Ryanair flights to Stockholm, I have yet to visit Sweden. The more wonderful Swedish labels I discover, the more I want to take that long-delayed trip to find out what it is that makes Stockholm so articulately spot-on with all its labels and the designers Sweden has produced. If I made a list of how many Swedish labels have taken my fancy over the years, it would be a lo-ong list but my latest addition to that hefty list is Lick My Label. The name may sound a little racy but the clothes are anything but. The thing about LML, that I seem to notice with a lot of Swedish designers is the very careful restraint in the clothes - that may sound like a criticism but its exactly because they don't over-embellish or over-complicate that all the garments are approachable. Yet interesting details are still incorporated like the knitted multi-straps or or the gentle ruching of a skirt.
You can buy LML on Swedish online boutique Branten (check out the rest of their wares because its all mighty fine. Plus I get a real kick out of converting SEK into GBP and finding out something is very reasonably priced!)
Since I have lost count of the number of times where I have admired a Swedish designer, I'm thinking that £35 fare to Stockholm just has to be taken advantaged of PRONTO! I expect to be there in April - I hope Stockholm won't mind being meticulously fashion-combed by me.
