Cum Again, with the Kane

The antidote to my blog would be the Times Fashion Blog, which has done some fantastic coverage on fashion week. It's perfect for all the sort of fash-insider-goodness that I alas, can't provide you with seeing as my musings are rather insular and a little bit on the geeky side. Sort of like when I go 'Wow...thats a catwalk show!?! How eggggg-citing!'. From Time's insidery-insight and excessive party hopping, I unearthed these pics of girls working Christopher Kane's dresses in reality at the Kane aftershow party at the Royal Academy. I know I'm over-doing it a bit with all this talk of Kane since everyone else can't stop blah-ing on about him as well but I just couldn't resist seeing as I'm all about bringing the catwalk to the streets. These dresses have literally flown off the shelves as all 22 dresses ordered by Browns have been sold so the nay-sayers who were questioning the wearability of Kane's dresses aren't left with too much to stand on. Now, where is that spare £1000 I had floating around....

I have to say I'm impressed. I never thought his designs would transfer so well. Awesome!

it took me a little while, but i did come around to seeing the charm of his MA collection. maybe it will be the same effect with his second collection, but it just struck me as awful when i first saw it.
maybe it's the natural result of a designer being just ahead of the pack...im curious to know what you thought of the 2nd collection, susie?

i don't know. the dresses are okay. i can't help but see only the dress. i think you have to have some serious carismatic pull to wear this look otherwise these dresses over power you. i don't know...few girls have real swagger/ balls to wear this and even fewer will have the figure (or posture).

I love that they look so fun, that you can imagine having such a great night in them. I like the first 2 best.

heehee, i don't know dimes, the two guys in the last picture seem to have noticed the girl all right.

Hey I really enjoy your blog can you please add my blog to your site and I will do the same with your blog. Thanks

The second girl looks just darling.. maybe the clothes are great to go partying in but given that the skirts look so tight, how would one layer them for daywear? Thick tights'd be good but I still wouldn't want to risk an upskirt..

haha, I thought the same thing as megan, it looks like the 2nd guy is staring right down her dress!

Those girls do look good in them, but it must be said they all have great bodies. I still think it'll take a certain body type and attitude to carry these off. The third girl looks perfect in hers - the hair, her size and the attitude is oozing out of her - she looks fab. There are other photo's too (not shown here), and one is the girl in what I think is the grey Topshop version and I don't think it looked good at all, somehow the pleated skirt on the dress just isn't flattering. I think if your going to do Kane then REALLY do it and go for full on skin tight.

personally i think the dresses far outshine the woman in them(sorry, bit mean). maybe they would look nice on young petite woman. very thin woman.

I just read the comment left by "Jennifer" on a past blog and it made me upset. I have actually worked at Vogue and I know for a fact that those girls are some of the nicest girls you could ever work with. They would never leave a comment like that on someone's blog. I guess "Jennifer" never thought that someone who's actaully worked at Vogue would read her comment. Trust me on this, a Vogue girl would never comment like that, they have way more class. If a Vogue girl didn't like your blog, she would simply move on.

"Jennifer", you lie.

Brave Girls!

Sorry, but Christopher Kane just doesn't do it for me, no matter how technically great these are. These look disgustingly ghastly.

wow Im in awe of his designs. Im attending a fabulous summer do this year and would love to wear one of his dresses and be slightly outragous! However, im having trouble finding where to buy (i dont want to buy from topshop as it runs the risk of others wearing.) I did originally want a michael kors from the spring 2006 collection (long sleeved white lace-any help appreciated), unfortunately I can't find anywhere either! Im not in the best of locations for fashion and mainly rely on the web, trips to london!

Well to be honest, I so0o0o love C.Kane designs. They are very unique and most people don't like unique, just what they see very one wearing. But that's the beauty of being a designer I guess, you can create your own art work and know some courages and unique person will wear it (lol at least admire it). Keep the work up Kane.

MY GOSH!! :o thats so Ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
