Head Options
The spring summmer 2007 catwalks proposed several interesting headgear options and Vogue UK featured the turban as an revived trend this month (I personally can't see it happening but would really love to.....). I'm eternally into headgear of all sorts and I seem to have a new headwear obsession every season. For spring, I'm hunting for headpieces much in the style of 1920's flapper headdresses like the one Emily Mortimer wore in the deliciously fun Bright Young Things (based on Evelyn Waugh's Vile Bodies). I want to make like Nina Blount and shimmy around in a headdress (flapper gown optional) and hopefully find my modern day Adam Fenwick Symes (ok, might not be the character...I just have a thing for Stephen Campbell Moore who played Adam in the film....)
This is a genuine 1920's example from eBay:
Or for something simpler and easier for everyday wear, I also like this 1960's black velvet lattice headpiece:

I'm kinda into headpieces too... the 1920's are amazing, truly inspiring...

I love you but PLEASE don't write in that way that everything is underlined and hyperlinked, it's absolutley impossible to read and looks nasty.

^Eh? But on my computer, it's not underlined or hyperlinked - just the links are underlined and hyperlinked but not the text.... ok..... we may be seeing different things - who else is seeing this??

I have a bit of a thing for Stephen Campell Moore too; he's in History Boys too - have you seen it?
And now you've made me want my own headpiece …

They have an spread in Teen Vogue about headbands in the styling of Prada.
They look completely wearable.
You should check it out.

I love the 20's headgear, wonder if I could pull it off. The turban, though, kind of looks imperialistic. Either that or someone's just come out of a fancy shower.

^Have no fear Gata....! I say embrace the headgear!

Oo, I could get into headwear if it were 1920s flapper style. Though I loved the costumes in 'Bright Young Things,' it was a whole different animal from the book (isn't it always like that?) Love the authentic version on ebay but wonder if it'd be possible to make something like this? Maybe a rudimentary version?

If you love the film 'Bright Young Things'/Vile Bodies (as do I!) you should see 'The House of Elloit' which is a BBC series about two fashion designers in the 20's...amazing costumes. 'Poirot' and 'Jeeves and Wooster' are excellent for costumes of the era and if you appreciate the satire of Vile Bodies, the PG Wodehouse books are brilliant.
