Breeches for the 21st Century
16th century mens breeches were heavy cumbersome things. I remember trying on Shakespearean costumes when I visited Stratford upon Avon and not being able to hold them up because they were practically half my body weight. Thank goodness that Preen made a 21st century version in a lightweight techy nylon blend fabric which I picked up at the sample sale on Thursday. For a relatively non-hippy person like me, I quite like the extra curvature with the huge pockets as well. Remember that film Shakespeare in Love where Gwyneth dresses up in a rather unconvincing boys getup. How odd that I'm wearing the modern interpretation of breeches to feel a little more feminine.

Wow! Lovely outfits!

Hi susie.. love your blog of course :)
But I'd like to know what your opinion is on the 'Cobrasnake-girls' style, especially Cory Kennedy's? Could you perhaps write something about it?
thanks, keep up the good work (I hate that sentence though)

Hmm...I don't really have an opinion on them...not a strong one anyway. To me the pics are sometimes all pose and not much else.....
Cory Kennedy - don't really care much for her style.... sorry! She's an internet celebrity but I see girls dressed like that all the time and I don't see them getting net recognition!

Posted by: Chloë | 03 December 2006 at 18:57
those are great. i found a pair of real breeches in my size at a thrift store a few years back. i dont know when i will ever wear them but hopefully i will. they look really good with my balenciaga 6 inch heels. dont have the guts to be that "out there" on a daily basis i guess.

These would go well with my balls.
I ask Prince Henry and Prince William, "Where are yours?"
It's time for the Japan patterns to come back! Clothing that is a tasteful mix between Victorian and Edo Kimono.
Do you have ideas?
I would freak the Princes and Princesses out and make Weapons of Mass Destruction Advertising Clothes. "Hannibal" themed, Samurai, and some edible gloves.
If you'd like to collaborate on Charity ideas, ideas to bring back Ancestoral Fashion of Africa, Central and South America, North America, Russia and Asia Pacific and Greater Asia, Russia --all my territory, please let me know!
Something about you that tells me you'd tell me, "Go for it!" Gambattene!
