Technology is Alive
For a while, I was beginning to wonder where could fashion go, after we are done re-hashing, re-referencing everything. Hussein Chalayan's S/S07 collection answered that for me. Watching these mechanical dresses transform is just a bit gob-smacking. I felt like that Miss Maxwell character in Qui Etes Vous Polly Maggoo? who had just seen the collection of steel sheets moulded as new-age garments - 'Manifique!' One question though, I wonder whether the mechanisms weigh a lot within the dress and whether they're really uncomfortable when operating. In any case, if mechanical dresses aren't for you, Chalayan has padded his collection out with less exciting, equally pretty dresses.

that was so beautiful

Wow. Thanaks for posting that!! I think the idea of mechanical clothes is an interesting one, albiet somewhat impractical for the everyday person (but who knows--technology keeps getting smaller and more efficient!). I think the dress with the drop down fringe was my favorite! :D

Wow, that was incredible. Something like that could be revolutionary to the fashion world. Those dresses were really beautiful too.

Wow I was just looking at his collection on style.com last night and was wondering where I could get a video clip to see this. And it's absolutely astounding! How did he do that?
