I just want to say here now, that I'm so chuffed that my readership are so INCREDIBLY stylish, judging from the small smattering of people's lovies that came through. It's like 'Yay - I'm not a fashion loner!' and through this blog, it's been fantastic to come across and be amazed by people's style.
So to start off, Sabrina of Milk is my Sugar did a lovies post - an altogether more pro looking collage with a choice number of lovies. She apologises for the majority of her lovies being vintage but I'm very envious that she has a grandma who has passed down so many beautiful things!
(From left to right: Vintage black velvet bow dress, vintage batwing sweater, striped cardigan from Fashion Fair, ruched halter made by grandma, leopard-print dress from grandma, vintage leather skirt, vintage double-sided cape, vintage sequined top, cream beret, vintage electric blue pumps, gold skirt from Winners, flats from Transit.)
Next up, Sarah of Cheap Opulence has another very edited selection of lovies but it's not about quantity. It's measured by your love of these treasures (I clearly like to give out my love freely....!). From top to bottom, she has a Marimekko smock dress that was waaay too long so she chopped off the bottom which did have a frill on it, a hamster-like fur jacket, her special 'party' dress, an amazing African vintage shirt (those sleeves are AMAZING!) and two darling handmade embroidered Finnish apron skirts which she says she doesn't wear nearly enough. Sarah's lovies indicate that vintage dominates a lot of people's lovies precisely because they are one-off and very easy to become attached to and as I said before, these are garments that don't need to be worn to death.
Sam of Fashion Folio (check out her fashion photography!) has the advantage of two wardrobes being a student in NYC but going home to Toronto. I remember the trials of having a uni wardrobe and a home wardrobe and I actually ended up chucking away most of my uni wardrobe. I don't advise Sam to do the same because her lovies are STUNNING. The Klimt bag is especially beautiful.
(From left to right: French Chantilly dress, 1930's Japanese hair pin, YSL belt from thrift store, vintage 50's style dress, Kate Spade purse, Coach bag, Florenza costume ring, Japanese kimono, vintage dress, Tracy Reese 'Plenty' babydoll, wedge boots, vintage slingbacks, Mendocino two tier skirt, vintage fuchsia dress, Urban Outfitters cloche hat, own painted purse of Klimt and grandmother's hand-embroidered wedding jacket.)
Not only am I a fan of Swan Diamond Rose's bags and her vintage store, I'm now also a fan of her style (as if I should have questioned it otherwise!). Her lovies reveal her to be a true vintage connoisseur. One of the few people I know who has genuine vintage Biba so yes, not only are her lovies dear to her, they're also collectables!
