My obsession with Salvatore Ferragamo bow flats is soon to be upgraded to an obsession with Roger Vivier's classic pilgrim flat, as worn by Catherine Deneuve in Belle du Jour. The fact that the new Roger Vivier store has just opened up on Sloane Street does not help things as it just tempts me hop on the bus in my lunch hour and drop half my wage packet on a pair of buckled flats....oh but a pair of delectable, desirable buckled flats at that..... (And so the delusional reasoning begins....!) At least when the store was only in Paris, I could safely say, 'Ah well...I'm not bothered when I have to take a train to go get them.' But now, I don't think I can resist for much longer......
Apparently, they come in a whole range of colours and finishes as well. Oh dear me....I think I'm in trouble.....

but did you see the new ferragamo ballet flats he did in support of london's children ballet? they made me think of you!

I've read about it but have not seen the shoes! Can you tell me where I can find pics? Of course I wouldn't desert Ferragamo (more in my price range anyways!)

I love my SF bow shoes! They pinch my feet but I wear them anyway. They are my only article of clothing that I'll suffer for!

A Roger Vivier store launched in Hong Kong, too! Everybody was snapping up the pilgrim flat and the high-heeled versions. The height on the heels was amazing, and the shoes are apparently very comfortable.

Oh dear....a Vivier store in BOTH of my home towns??? See...now there really is no escaping the inevitable....I simply must buy those pilgrim flats!

The launch was very popular, very packed. You gain a new respect for well-made shoes once you look at Vivier's!

LOVE Ferragamo. Those 'Belle du Jour' buckle flats really are to die for as well.

hello...i am 55 years old and have been wearing the pilgrim shoe since it FIRST came out...i wore a silver pair to my 10th grade dance, with a rudy gernrich sparkly dress, peggy moffit haircut and all....very mod and twiggy like!....i still wear them,as they are classics, and have a few vivier inspired pairs....calvin klein did one in '97 or so....and a have a pair from france with a tortise shell pilgrim buckle......i have a pair of ysl ones that may have been designed by vivier's current designer when he was with ysl...i have had them resoled twice and only wear them occasionally,i have been trying,on ebay,to get a pair of low heeled vivier black pilgrms for almost 2 years now and because of their popularity with movie stars...everyone wants them !!!!.....damn......the only vivier location outside of france and london(where i can order them but pay twice the price because of the dollar/pound conversion...1200 dollars is a bit much)....is bluefly...they have them, but many size ranges are sold out the day they come online.......sigh....someday i'll find them and i'll buy 2 pair....after all,i've been wearing them for 40 years and will for the next 40 i suspect!....good luck in your quest!!!!

I have a pair of roger vivier boots and they are the most comfortable boots I've worn. They look chic, glam and are worth the money! They often come up for sale in Harrods....

I must also add that I have a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo black patent mary jane shoes, which are very comfortable. I can be in them all day and not feel my my feet tire. LV shoes on the other hand are not as comfortable. What do you guys think?
